Music Ministry
We have considered ourselves "Lifers" here At St. Paul's. We were baptized in our old church on Elizabeth Street and still remember a few Christmas' & Easters and the old hymns which called us to the music that would become our life!
We were 10 when the 2nd church was built in1964 just outside of town and we already had 2 years of piano lessons under our belts and by the 6th grade, we were playing the opening hymns for Sunday School. We practiced our way up through 3 previous organists to become the Saturday and Sunday musicians for St. Paul's.
Our 2nd building addition in 2008 provided us with much needed room, updated music area, mixer/equipment and more opportunities for "change"....including being on the building committee to help plan for the future.
In addition to church music, weddings, funerals, and praise music, we fell in love with the mountain dulcimer, autoharp, harmonica, native flute and a few other instruments which we've added to the services here and there as we love variety in all that we do. We've also done a few "Saturday Nite Live" building fundraisers portraying the "lighter side" of church life and finally brought drama into our talented group of actors and actresses!!
Our church has grown with the times and St. Paul's now has a Thrive Contemporary Service on Saturdays with a live praise band to boot and we love playing in that as well. We have been blessed with the opportunity to belong to St. Paul's our entire life and serve, going on 51 years, doing what we love to do....MAKE MUSIC!!!
